Fencing Gem is a cloud based service build for clubs and other organizations specializing in fencing. The service is in Trial mode and is currently free of charge.
Using Fencing Gem the user can perform following steps
To get access to Fencing Gem service user has to create an account. Service allows to keep the results of the competitions and make copies of the competitions of the same account.
Password policy requires to provide password with at least 8 characters including special character and number
Creating and managing your profile.
Provide organization name and credentials for user profile
Tournaments page provides an access to existing current and past tournaments. A tournament director can start new tournament, edit or copy previously saved tournamnents.
Setting up competition involves providing name of the competition, weapon type, age category, date. The tournament director can specify a number of points for pools and elimination bouts. 5 points are default for pools and 15 are default for elimination. Also the tournament director can provide the percentage of fencer that will go into elimination.
The tournament director can enrol competitors to the competition, he/she can enter names of the competitors and other details such as age, gender, club country etc.
To set the pools the tournament director should provide a minimal size of the pool. The service will automatically calculate an optimal size and number of the pools required. If suggested calculation is not satisfying the minimal size can be increased or decreased.
The pools results can be dynamically filled in. The number of defeats and victories, touches and indicator will be calculated automatically. The bout points can be entered directly into the table. Under the table a list of bouts provided as a numbered list. Alternatively points can be entered in the list where they be duplicated into the table
By the end of pools when all results are entered a "Create pool results" button is enabled.
By pressing the "Create pool results" button the results after pools will become available.
Elimination tableau is provided as a tabular view where each tab manages one elimination round. A printer friendly elimination tree can be printed at any stage of the competition. The result of the bout is entered as number of points against for each competitor. Winners are automatically promoted to the next bout.
Final result displays positions of each fencer after elimination. The final results can be created as a pdf document.
The pool sheets can be created in pdf and printed as soon as pools have been set up. Printing tableau can be done at any stage during the elimination. The final results can be printed as soon as elimination is finished.
